Case 2: Rose, 36 years old, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder 3 months ago. She was initially admitted to the inpatient psychiatric unit for symptoms of severe depression with suicidal ideation after she spent her entire savings on two lavish trips and several gambling sprees at a casino. She improved after a few weeks and was discharged home. She is back in the hospital now because she was not taking her medication at home because she felt like it meant she was a failure. She is talking really fast, has a full face of brightly colored makeup, and is telling staff about a new business she wants to invest in but she has no money and was fired from her job recently because of showing up with alcohol on her breath. The mental health nurse is preparing the care plan to assist Rose with integrating back home, and back into society.
